Castello Sonnino, o Castello di Montespertoli, es un impresionante castillo en una finca vinícola junto a un pueblo llamado Montespertoli en la región de Chianti de la Toscana, a 20 km al sur de Florencia. Se remonta al siglo 13, esta finca de 150 hectáreas ha sido el hogar de la familia Renzis Sonnino desde el comienzo del siglo 19. Con la llegada del barón Alessandro y la baronesa Caterina de Renzis Sonnino, con sus hijos Virginia y Leone, en 1987, la finca se transformó en la máquina bien engrasada que es hoy y su trabajo de renovación, conservación y "compromiso con la protección histórica del patrimonio cultural y el renacimiento de la actividad vitivinícola" han convertido a Castello Sonnino en uno de los productores de vinos más respetados en el Chianti florentino.

Comfortable portion of a country house very close to Montespertoli, a town in the Tuscan hills about 25 km from Florence and 30 km from San Gimignano. The country house is made up of the apartment for rent, and the apartment of the owners, who are nice, discreet and welcoming people. Guests of Casa Renzo have exclusive use of the garden and pool outside.
The apartment is furnished comfortably and the outdoor spaces are very well tended.
The property is located in the heart of Tuscany at an easy distance from the region's important cities such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa and Lucca. The beautiful, renowned Chianti Classico zone (Castellina, Greve, Radda, Panzano, Gaiole, etc.) is just a few dozen minutes away by car.
Access to the house is via a short section of unpaved road in good condition and suitable for all vehicles.
Distances: Montespertoli with shops of all kinds 1,3 km away, Certaldo 18 km, Florence (airport) 25 km away, San Gimignano 30 km, Volterra 52 km away, Siena 70 km, Pisa (airport) 75 km away, Tuscan coast (Versilia) 90 km away, Lucca 101 km, Arezzo 120 km away.
At guests' disposal: large, very well-tended garden for guests' exclusive use, equipped with table, chairs, umbrella, gazebo, stone barbecue, private pool (10 x 5 m -depth 1,3 m - open from 01/05 to 30/09), outdoor shower (cold water) near the pool.
WI-FI internet connection available free of charge. A washing machine is available in the laundry room just outside the apartment.

Very quiet with a wonderful pool. You almost never see the owners so the pool and grounds are yours to enjoy. It is only a 20 minute walk up the hill to Montespertoli, which is a beautiful little town. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed in April. Weather was between 19 and 24C most days. The house was well equipped and comfortable. The owner Renzo and his wife stay in the same building it is a completely separate home, including a different door. The location is lovely and it is possible to walk into Montespertoli village which has a decent grocery store (Co-op), coffee shops and cafes and restaurants. The walk is long an averagely busy road up a steep enough hill and you need to be careful - but it's a nice walk. Renzo speaks little english but he's very used to tourists and is pleasant without being intrusive. He's greeted us with a couple of bottles of local wine and didnt let us leave without a bottle of his homemade Limoncello. We had a lovely stay here.

all is available as published. Nice owner who are very helpful & indeed very discrete. 3 large bedrooms with double bed. Nice swimming pool with an astonishing view. 3 terrasses, 1 next to the swimming pool & 1 close to the house. The kitchen-dining room was OK because the weather was nice & we stayed mistly outside, but with bad weather it would be rather small for four. Nicely located: Firenze nearby, San Gimignano & Pisa not too far, we also went to the beach which is about a 1.5h trip.
