There were 8 of us and not one of us spoke Italian. A bit of a disadvantage as the keyholder did not speak any English. The Villa is very large, views are awesome. 6 Bedrooms on 2nd Floor, 4 have ensuite baths but only 3 baths have showers. 2 bedrooms have twin beds. Baths and bedrooms are large with great closet space. All but 1 bedroom have veranda access. Francesca and Eleanor are absolutely great chefs and prepared feasts for our group. Be sure to get provisions before arriving...toilet paper, coffee, dish detergent, paper goods, etc. We had difficulty locating a Supermarket (plenty of Italian deli's with food)-finally located a Carrefour Supermarket in Pompeii-also A Sissa Market in Maiori but it closes down from 1 to 4. Transportation...beware...the walk from the Villa to the road is very, very steep..about a 10 minute walk. Bus stops in front of the development but does not drop you off there and it is dangerous walking on the narrow road. I contacted the Villa contact via e mail before we left the states to arrange for a driver but she never responded to my e mail. Also called her when we arrived but she never returned my call. Kitchen is great but the coffee maker takes about 1/2 hour to brew about 4 cups...we were 8 people so the villa really needs a couple of coffee pots. Location of Cetara is great for Salerno, Vietri Sul Mare, Positano, Cetara, Amalfi, Ravello and ferry from Salerno to Capri. Buses-you have to purchase tickets in advance...they are very crowded...would recommend taxis or private driver to get around or car rental if you are not timid to drive the narrow, windy roads. People were amazing, food incredible, and the views were like I have never experienced...would recommend sightseeing during the day then have Francesca and Eleanor cook dinner for you at the Villa...best meals I've had...Villa Cetara could use some comfortable outdoor furniture since you spend most of the time on the veranda. Also, if you are interested in iced drinks, bring or purchase ice trays...also, no wine glasses (we bought some in Maiori). All in all other than minor inconveniences, Cetara is a fantastic Villa...would return without hesitation.

The setting of Villa Cetara is magnificent. The rooms are spacious, the views from the large terrace are very lovely. The villa is clean and well maintained, and every bedroom has access to a private terrace overlooking the Bay of Salerno. It is an easy drive to Salerno or to the Amalfi Coast. This area is not particularly pedestrian-friendly, though, by the very nature of the winding road which serves the Amalfi Coast. A car is advised, although there is a bus stop about 400 meters in the direction of Cetara going west and a stop right at the driveway entrance for going east towards Salerno.

This property is more spectacular than the pictures show. The vistas off it's many terraces are awesome. Its location is superb being close to Vietri Sul Mare and Salerno where you are able to pick up ferries, trains, and buses to all the surrounding coastal towns and sites. Next time I go, and I will, I will rent a car as the driveway is long and steep. Having a bus stop at the top of the driveway was a big plus. You will not be disappointed in this property! Angie S.
